Firmus Partners with Nvidia for 360MW, 170,000-GPU AI Data Center in Indonesia

Firmus Technologies, an Australian AI infrastructure company, has signed an eight-year partnership with Nvidia to build a 360MW AI data center on Batam, Indonesia. The massive campus will house up to 170,000 Nvidia GPUs, with deliveries expected in 2027 and 2028 and initial operations targeted for 2027. The project is being developed alongside Singapore-based DayOne, backed by investors including Coatue Management and SoftBank, which recently raised $2 billion for data center expansion.

Batam's proximity to Singapore is a key advantage given the city-state's data center constraints. The site would add significant GPU compute capacity for AI training and inference in Southeast Asia. However, the project remains a forward-looking buildout: power sourcing, customer commitments, and final GPU delivery timing are not yet secured. The announcement comes as AI infrastructure investment accelerates across APAC, with firms racing to secure chip access and energy resources for large-scale deployments.
