Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 debuts with less crease, bigger battery to rival foldable iPhone

At Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in London, Samsung unveiled three new foldable phones and two smartwatches, positioning itself against the rumored foldable iPhone. The flagship Galaxy Z Fold 8 sports a 7.6-inch AMOLED inner display with 120Hz refresh rate, anti-reflective coating, and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Its standout improvement is the reduced crease, achieved through a new flex titanium alloy film and titanium plate. A Z Fold 8 Ultra variant offers a narrower design and a 5,000mAh battery (up from 4,400mAh).
Beyond phones, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, plus teased new smart glasses. All devices are available for pre-order now and ship on August 7. With seven years of foldable engineering, Samsung aims to outpace Apple’s first foldable expected later this year, emphasizing mature design and iterative improvements over radical changes.
