End-user validation of BRIGHT with custom-developed graphical user interface applied to cervical cancer brachytherapy
An AI treatment planner scored 83.3 for usability and outperformed human clinicians in half of patient cases.
A research team from Amsterdam UMC and others validated BRIGHT, an AI-powered treatment planner for cervical cancer brachytherapy. The tool, now with a custom graphical user interface (GUI), scored 83.3/100 for usability. In tests on 10 patients, BRIGHT's AI-generated plans matched or outperformed clinical plans in all cases, with clinicians preferring the AI plan 80% of the time. It helps doctors visualize dose trade-offs and create optimal radiation plans faster.
Why It Matters
This demonstrates a clinically viable, user-friendly AI tool that can improve precision and outcomes in complex cancer radiation therapy.
