New AI model HABIT fills gaps in ship tracking data with 95% accuracy

Researchers have unveiled HABIT, a new AI framework designed to impute missing segments in vessel trajectory data from the Automatic Identification System (AIS). The system analyzes historical motion patterns to accurately fill gaps caused by signal loss or intentional transmission stops. In tests across various vessel types and conditions, HABIT matched baseline methods in accuracy while offering superior speed and accounting for unique ship maneuvering behaviors.
