Researchers have developed an AI system called Compendia that automatically generates visual stories from a collection of online articles. In response to a user query, it retrieves articles, extracts and validates key facts, organizes them into themes, and creates an interactive, scrollable narrative with charts and graphs. User studies with 16 participants confirmed the system is effective at producing engaging and usable data stories from open-ended questions.
