Free Claude AI Ads Are Popping Up — Most Are Not Real

If you've seen ads promising "Free Claude AI" with unlimited access to models called Opus 4.6 or Sonnet 4.6, here's the honest version: those pages are not from Anthropic, the company that actually makes Claude. They're promotional sites built to rank in search results and catch people who are curious about AI but don't yet know which links are legitimate.

The real Claude does have a free plan. You can sign up at claude.ai and use a capable version of the assistant for everyday tasks — writing, summarizing documents, answering questions, brainstorming. Anthropic also sells paid plans with higher usage limits and access to its most powerful models. What you won't find is a random website handing out "unlimited" access to unreleased versions for nothing.

So why does this matter to you? Because these lookalike sites are a growing scam pattern. Some ask for your email and then flood you with spam. Others push you toward a paid subscription you didn't want, or hide malware behind a download button. A few simply exist to show you ads. The cost is your time, your inbox, and potentially your personal data.
