China has achieved a milestone in semiconductor and 6G technology by delivering 5 million gallium nitride (GaN) chips to power smart terminals for a space-air-ground integrated network. Developed by the US-sanctioned No 55 Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) and its subsidiary Nanjing Guobo Electronics, these third-generation semiconductors are the first mass-produced GaN chips for commercial 6G use.
