Character.AI launches c.ai Series: interactive AI microdramas for mobile
Short-form vertical videos where you chat with characters after each episode.
Character.AI is expanding beyond chatbots into interactive microdramas with the launch of c.ai Series — short, vertical videos designed for mobile. The platform debuts three animated series: Last Summer (anime-style romance), The Nighttime Game (Entergalactic-esque horror), and Eden Fall (Genshin Impact-like VR). Each consists of 10 episodes under two minutes; the first eight are free, while the final two are behind a paywall. The content is produced by a human-led studio team using Character.AI's proprietary AI tools for visuals and audio, with scripts from Hollywood screenwriters.
CEO Karandeep Anand emphasized this is a natural evolution of the platform, not a trend-chasing move. Unlike competitors like ReelShort, c.ai Series lets users chat with characters after watching — making it interactive. Character.AI plans to eventually let creators build their own microdramas using the company's AI. The microdrama market is projected to hit $26 billion, and the company is betting on interactivity and in-house production quality to stand out.
