Researchers from the University of Tartu published a study validating LLMs for personality assessment. In a 33-person experiment, they compared Big Five scores from guided AI conversations against the gold-standard IPIP-50 questionnaire. Results showed moderate convergent validity (r=0.38-0.58), with three traits statistically equivalent. Participants rated the AI-generated profiles as equally accurate as traditional results, suggesting conversational AI is a promising new psychometric tool.
