ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 targets pro filmmakers with 4K 30-second AI videos

ByteDance's cloud computing division, Volcengine, has officially announced the upcoming public launch of its upgraded AI video generation model, Seedance 2.5, targeted for early July 2026. Currently in late-stage beta, the model introduces several significant technical advancements over its predecessor. Notably, it supports native 4K resolution output, enabling high-fidelity video generation suitable for professional use. The model can produce videos up to 30 seconds in length, a considerable leap from typical 5–10 second clips from other AI video tools. Additionally, Seedance 2.5 features advanced 3D pre-visualization tools that allow creators to plan camera angles, lighting, and scene composition before rendering the final AI-generated footage.

Seedance 2.5 is positioned squarely at the professional filmmaking and commercial advertising markets. By combining high resolution, longer duration, and pre-visualization capabilities, ByteDance aims to differentiate from competitors like Runway, Pika, and OpenAI's Sora. The 3D pre-vis tools in particular give directors and ad agencies a new workflow where AI-generated video can complement traditional CGI or live-action shoots.
