Apple’s iOS 27 Beta 2 adds visible Siri writing, RCS replies, Wallet Insights
Siri moves to the keyboard; RCS replies finally work like iMessage.
Apple’s iOS 27 beta 2, released to developers on June 22, adds a “Write with Siri” button above the keyboard in Notes, Mail, and Messages. RCS now lets users reply to a specific message by long-pressing, and tapbacks appear directly on media instead of as text. Wallet includes an unfinished Insights feature for future spending tracking. The Home app fixes an issue that made some HomeKit accessories—including Philips Hue lights—unresponsive after installing iOS 27. IT teams should test these changes before the expected fall launch, particularly around data policies for AI writing tools.
- Write with Siri button now persistently above the keyboard in Notes, Mail, and Messages—no longer hidden behind text selection.
- RCS chats gain message replies via long-press and emoji reactions rendered directly on media, matching iMessage behavior.
- Wallet Insights feature (unfinished) will show spending trends and balances; Home app fixes unresponsive Philips Hue lights.
Why It Matters
IT teams must update data policies for Siri’s new writing prompts and test cross-platform RCS before the fall iOS launch.
