Anthropic's Claude Now Writes Your Slides and Docs in One App

Anthropic just combined its separate Claude products into one single app, also called Claude. Before, you had Claude chat for everyday questions and Claude Cowork for heavier work tasks. Now they are merged, along with Artifacts and Design. The company also launched Claude Docs, which means you can write documents, build slide decks, and design visuals without leaving the app. Everything you make lives at one shareable link you can open on your phone.

The practical upside: one starting point instead of several apps that cannot pick up where each other left off. You can talk to Claude, and it decides what the task needs — an agent (AI that can take actions for you) can jump in when the job is bigger. You can present straight from Claude or download your work as PowerPoint or PDF. In plain terms, Claude is now trying to be a real rival to Google Docs and Slides, not just a chatbot.

Why the merge? Anthropic said users were frustrated by having to choose where a task belonged. Cowork launched in January as a non-coding answer to Claude Code, then moved to the cloud in July after the company found most tasks people used it for were not coding at all. Managing one Claude with those abilities makes more sense than juggling several. If you only use regular chat, Anthropic says your experience should not change.

The catch: the new Docs, Slides, and Design features are in beta (an early test version) and rolling out first to paid Pro and Max plans over the coming weeks, with more plans later. So free users and anyone who simply chats with Claude won't see much difference yet. Anthropic is also entering a crowded fight, since Google already dominates office documents and OpenAI has hinted at similar plans.
