Iliad opens Fall 2026 programs: $5k-$6k AI alignment intensives and fellowships
Intensives from 3 to 4 weeks in Berkeley and London with full travel support.
Iliad, an umbrella organization focused on applied mathematics for AI alignment, has announced its full slate of programs for the latter half of 2026. The offerings include several intensive introductory courses and a longer mentored research fellowship, all designed to equip participants with the technical foundations needed to work on alignment. The August 2026 Iliad Intensive is a 3-week accelerated program held at Lighthaven in Berkeley, USA, from August 10-28, providing a $5,000 travel-and-housing allowance. Its application deadline is June 22. In parallel, the Fall 2026 Iliad Fellowship launches September 7 at LISA in London, UK, lasting 3 months through December 4, with a monthly $6,000 travel-and-housing stipend and a deadline of July 27.
Additionally, two more intensives are scheduled in London (September 7-October 2 and November 2-27) and one in Berkeley (October 5-30), each lasting 4 weeks with $5,000 travel support. Applicants are selected based on estimated mathematical strength. The programs are built to overlap—fellows can attend intensive lectures—and culminate alongside the ILIAD 2026 conference. With generous allowances and a focus on advanced math, Iliad aims to accelerate the training of researchers who can formalize and solve core alignment problems.
- August 3-week intensive in Berkeley ($5k travel, deadline June 22) and September 4-week intensive in London ($5k, deadline July 27).
- Fall 3-month fellowship in London provides $6,000 per month for travel and housing (deadline July 27).
- October (Berkeley) and November (London) intensives also available; all programs emphasize broad coverage of technical AI alignment.
Why It Matters
These programs offer rare, fully-funded paths for mathematically strong researchers to enter the high-stakes field of AI alignment.
