AlterAtlas, developed by William Huang, Ruofei Du, and Yang Zhang, tackles a core flaw in AI travel planning: generating itineraries without understanding how they will actually feel in practice. The system models travelers as editable personas with preferences, constraints, and states (like fatigue and hunger), then runs high-fidelity geospatial simulations of how each persona would experience a candidate itinerary.
