Singer with Parkinson's uses Suno and Udio AI to finish new album

London-based singer-songwriter Samuel Smith, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, utilized artificial intelligence music generation platforms like Suno and Udio to produce demo arrangements for his recently released second album, 'The Art of Letting Go.' Smith turned to AI after the progressive neurological disorder severely impacted his ability to play the guitar, which had been central to his songwriting process. The technology allowed him to create instrumental demos that captured his intended melodies and chord progressions, serving as a blueprint for collaborating musicians.

Smith specifically used the AI tools to develop the instrumental track 'Horizon,' which required complex guitar work that his condition no longer permitted. By generating demo arrangements that conveyed his creative vision, he was able to guide session musicians in recording the final parts. The album's successful release demonstrates how generative AI can serve as an assistive technology for artists with physical limitations, preserving their creative output when traditional methods become inaccessible.
