New AI Safety Conference Offers Travel Money to Attend
If you care about AI risks, this could be your chance to get involved.
The AI Horizons Forum is a brand-new conference focused on AI safety. It will take place in San Francisco on December 12–13. The goal is to bring together people who are concerned about the risks of artificial intelligence, share what we know about those risks, and plan a stronger response. The organizers also want to help AI safety groups hire talented people. So if you have skills that could be useful—like policy, research, or engineering—this is a chance to meet potential employers.
The speaker lineup includes famous names like Will MacAskill, a philosopher who writes about doing good effectively, and Holden Karnofsky, who co-founded the charity evaluator GiveWell. Other speakers are Amy Labenz, Sam Bowman, and Peter Wildeford. Many more will be announced.
Who should apply? The organizers say if you already work in AI safety or governance, or if you have relevant experience and want to switch into the field, you should apply. They especially encourage people who are unsure about whether they qualify. Travel support is available for applications received before November 13, so if you need help getting there, apply early.
The application deadline is November 27. If you have questions, you can email team@aihorizonsforum.org. This is a chance to be part of a growing movement that wants to make sure AI develops safely. Even if you're just curious, applying could open doors to a meaningful career.
