AGI-64 revives Sierra's classic games on Commodore 64
AGI-64 interpreter brings Space Quest 1 to life on a 1MHz C64 with 75% AGI support.
The retro computing community has hit a major milestone with AGI-64, a newly developed AGI interpreter that finally brings Sierra’s legendary adventure games to the Commodore 64. Currently at 75% completion for Space Quest 1, the engine aims to support most AGI titles from the era. Developed independently and offered as a free download, AGI-64 includes a built-in tool to convert .vol and .obj game files into 1MB EasyFlash-compatible CRT files—ready to run on hardware like Kung Fu Flash.
AGI-64 preserves the original artwork using custom background pre-processing, ensuring smooth performance even on the C64’s modest 1MHz processor. Save and load functionality works with real 1541 drives or SD card emulators on drive 8, supporting up to six saved games per session. The project is currently in testing and already handles most standard AGI operations, offering enthusiasts a way to relive vintage experiences on authentic hardware.
