Adobe Expands Firefly Into AI-Powered Editing Assistant Across Creative Apps

Adobe is fundamentally expanding its Firefly platform from a content generator into an AI-powered workflow orchestrator. The newly announced Firefly AI Assistant acts as a 'creative agent' that can take a user's request and execute complex, multi-step tasks across Adobe's core creative apps like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Illustrator. This means a creator can use a single conversational interface to command edits that would normally require manually switching between several different tools. Crucially, the assistant is designed to remember the context of a job across sessions, allowing users to pause and return to projects without starting over.

Beyond orchestration, Adobe is adding significant new control features. In Firefly Video Editor, users get Enhance Speech for cleaner dialogue, noise reduction, and granular color controls. For images, new tools like AI Markup let users use brushes or reference images to place objects or adjust lighting in specific areas. Furthermore, Adobe is opening the Firefly platform to over 30 third-party AI models, including new additions like Kling 3.0 and models from Runway and ElevenLabs. This 'agentic' shift, combined with deeper editing controls and a broader model ecosystem, positions Firefly as a central hub for the entire creative process, not just the initial generation step.
