Acer's Swift Air 14 challenges Apple's MacBook Neo at $699 with AI features

Acer’s new Swift Air 14 is a budget-friendly thin-and-light laptop starting at $699, designed to compete directly with Apple’s MacBook Neo. The device features a sleek aluminum chassis weighing just 1.19kg and measuring 12.9mm thick. It packs a 14-inch WUXGA display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB coverage. Under the hood, Intel’s Core Series 3 processors (Core 5 or Core 7) deliver up to 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and up to 512GB of storage (expandable to 1TB). Acer claims up to 19 hours of video playback battery life and fast charging that reaches 50% in 30 minutes. The laptop will be available in four colors: Sage Green, Frost Blue, Blossom Pink, and Lilac Purple.

For AI workloads, the Swift Air 14 offers up to 40 platform TOPS, with a dedicated NPU providing 17 TOPS. It includes a 1080p infrared webcam with a physical privacy shutter, Windows Hello facial recognition, and Acer’s PurifiedVoice and PurifiedView AI enhancements for video calls. Quad speakers with DTS Ultra Spatial Audio and a dedicated Copilot key round out the user experience. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, dual Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, and one USB-A port. Acer also introduced the Swift Spin 14 AI, a convertible variant with up to Intel Core Ultra 9, 100 platform TOPS, 26-hour battery, and Wi-Fi 7, targeting users needing more flexibility. The Swift Air 14 launches in EMEA in July 2026.
