A real-time UAS hyperspectral anomaly detection system
This breakthrough turns drones into instant surveillance and inspection tools...
Researchers have built a complete real-time system for anomaly detection using a drone-mounted hyperspectral camera. It processes complex VNIR image data onboard a small UAS, identifies spectrally distinct objects instantly, and wirelessly transmits concise anomaly data to a ground station. This end-to-end solution, built with low-cost components, allows a human operator to interactively investigate targets immediately, eliminating the traditional delay of post-processing which can take hours or days.
Why It Matters
This enables instant detection for critical applications like search & rescue, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure inspection.
