ROS Education Foundation's 2026 Summer School in Hangzhou offers free robotics training
Free week-long ROS training in Hangzhou with hardware labs and embodied AI focus
The ROS Education Foundation has announced the 2026 ROS Summer School, a free technical training event held July 18–24 in Hangzhou, China. The program is split across two venues: the International Innovation Expo Center (July 18–19) for industry forums and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (July 20–24) for classroom lectures, hardware labs, and robot practice. Co-organized with the Engineering Research Center for Hardware-Software Co-Design Technology and Application (Ministry of Education) and supported by top robotics enterprises, universities, and venture capital firms, the school aims to nurture the next generation of robotics engineers. Tuition is 100% free; participants cover their own travel and accommodation. Registration opens in late June via www.roseducation.org.cn, with merit-based admission.
The curriculum offers a full-stack ROS roadmap tailored for embodied intelligence trends. Basic modules cover ROS architecture, communication mechanisms, Gazebo simulation, and development workflows. Advanced topics include SLAM, autonomous navigation, multi-sensor fusion, and machine vision. Cutting-edge sessions explore reinforcement learning for robots, ROS + large language model integration, and embodied intelligent deployment. Special hands-on bootcamps let participants work with wheeled robots, industrial manipulators, and quadruped/biped humanoids. Hardware exhibitions feature mobile bases, robotic arms, Jetson compute boards, and perception sensors for debugging and programming. Attendees can also join project challenges, expert seminars, and industry investment meetings. The school is open globally to undergraduates, master's and PhD students, university researchers, ROS engineers, independent developers, and robotics startup teams with basic Python/C++ skills. Limited seats are awarded based on application review.
